Hijra Varsham — Privacy Policy

Hijra Varsham (ഹിജ്റ വർഷം) for Android · Hidayath Studios · Effective date: 8 October 2026

In short

  • The app has no account or sign-in, and it does not ask for your location.
  • Your settings and notes are stored only on your phone. Hidayath Studios does not receive them.
  • The app shows banner ads from Google AdMob. To serve and measure them, Google’s Mobile Ads SDK collects some device and usage data, as described below.
  • Hidayath Studios does not sell your personal data.

Who we are

Hijra Varsham is published by Hidayath Studios (hidayathstudio.com/). This policy explains what information is handled when you use the Android app.

What the app does on your phone

The app calculates the Hijri date, the calendar, Islamic days, recommended fasting days, prayer times and the Qibla direction on your device. City coordinates are bundled inside the app; your GPS or network location is never read. These features work without an internet connection.

Information stored only on your device

Your language, theme, text size, Hijri date adjustment, chosen city, prayer calculation method, reminder settings and personal notes are kept in the app’s private storage on your phone. For the home-screen widget, the Hijri adjustment, language and the next few days’ prayer times are also stored on the device. We do not collect, receive or back up this information. It is deleted when you clear the app’s data or uninstall the app. Android’s own device backup may include app data if you have enabled it in your Google account settings.

Exporting and importing notes

If you tap “Export notes”, the app creates a JSON file and opens Android’s share sheet; where you send or save it is your choice, and the app does not upload it anywhere. Importing reads only the file you pick.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

To keep the app free, it shows a banner ad on the Calendar, Events, Prayer and Settings screens. Ads are provided by Google AdMob through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. When ads are requested and shown, Google may collect and process:

  • device identifiers, including your Android advertising ID (the app declares the AD_ID permission for this);
  • device information such as model, operating system version, language and screen size;
  • your IP address, which may be used to estimate your general (coarse) location, such as country or city;
  • ad interaction and usage information, such as ads shown and clicked, and diagnostic and performance data (for example crash and app-launch information).

Google uses this information to deliver ads, measure their performance, prevent fraud and abuse, and, where you allow it, to personalize ads. This data is sent to Google, encrypted in transit; Hidayath Studios does not receive your advertising ID or IP address from Google. Learn how Google uses information from apps that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

The app asks AdMob for ads suitable for general audiences, and it never shows full-screen ads.

Your consent and choices

The app uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP). Where required by law, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, you are shown a consent form before any ads are requested, and you can choose whether your data may be used for personalized ads. In those regions you can change your choice at any time under Settings → Ad privacy choices. If you do not consent to personalized ads, Google may still show non-personalized or limited ads, which use less data.

On any Android phone you can also reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalization, in your phone’s settings (for example Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads; names vary by phone).

Permissions

  • Notifications (Android 13+): only for the optional reminders you turn on (Islamic days, fasting days, prayer times and notes).
  • Run at startup (receive boot completed): keeps your reminders and the home-screen widget working after a restart.
  • Vibrate: light haptic feedback on taps.
  • Internet and network state: used to request and display ads and the consent form. Calendar, prayer-time and Qibla features do not need the internet.
  • Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID): lets the Google Mobile Ads SDK use the advertising ID as described above.

The app does not use exact alarms, your contacts, camera, microphone, files (other than a notes file you choose to import) or location.

Data sharing and selling

Apart from the data processed by Google for advertising, as described above, the app does not share data with third parties. Hidayath Studios does not sell personal data.

Deleting your data

Everything the app stores is on your phone: clear the app’s storage or uninstall the app to delete it. For data processed by Google for ads, use your phone’s ad settings (reset or delete the advertising ID) and Google’s tools described at the link above. You can also email us with any request.

Children

Hijra Varsham is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will help remove it.

Security

Data you keep in the app stays in Android’s app-private storage. Communication between the Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google’s servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will publish the new version in the app and at hidayathstudio.com/hijra-varsham-privacy with a new effective date.
